![]() I would then open the file in EPub Metadata Editor and lo and behold the coauthor would still be there on some but not all. But, in FBreader sometimes the co-author would show up as the main author with no record of Patterson as the author, the same file would show up as Patterson being the main author or maybe co-authored but it was never consistent. Once it was saved I figured the co-author was permanently gone from the metadata. Using Calibre I went through the files and for example many had a co-author, I removed the co-author and would show Patterson as the sole author. I have several James Patterson books from different sources so I wanted to clean them up. My problem is this, no matter what editor I use sometimes the Metadata is shown to have changed sometimes not, definitely not consistent. I read books on my Android phone using either FBreader, Moon + or Go Books (just kicking some tires). Note : I do other things in Sigil in addition to removing metadata items, such as spell check and ToC adjustments.I am new to Calibre but have used EPub Metadata Editor before. I did look at it a long time ago but I decided I didn't need it because I could achieve what I wanted with calibre's Modify plugin and Sigil. I don't use Comments, firstly because they cannot be edited from the book list, secondly because they end up in dc:description, which cannot be removed by the Modify plugin. calibre puts content of Comments into dc:description, i.e. I use the Comments section for brief observations on some books and the Description section after completing each book to make a brief summary of the concepts that belong to it. Maybe you can convince the authors of these to add options to remove certain metadata. Other than that, there are the Clean Metadata and Cleaning Comment plugins. You can also copy values from the book card by clicking on the 'Set from Book Card' arrows near each field. To rewrite metadata just enter new values and press OK. To do multiple books, the bulk metadata editor has a search and replace function that should be able to clear one field at a time for all the books. You can view and edit ebook file metadata by clicking the appropriate icon next to this file in the Book Card -> Files tab. I can't think of anything that will remove all unwanted metadata except opening the metadata editor and going through each field and clearing them.
